What gene variants do I carry that may impact my response to medications?
What medications will work best for me?
Which medications should I avoid altogether?
Do I have an increased risk of side effects with certain medications?
Do I need a different dose of certain medications than most?
Is there an alternative type or dose of medicine that would work best for me?
Help individuals and their healthcare providers determine which drug and dose will work best, with less trial and error.
Mental health conditions and pain are closely linked.
Those suffering from depression are 3 times more likely to develop chronic pain, and those with chronic pain are 3 times more likely to have depression or anxiety. There is also significant overlap in many of the medications that are used to treat physical pain and mental/psychological health conditions. Inagene is here to help you find the best treatment plan based on your unique genetic profile, with minimal "trial and error", so you can feel better, sooner.

Your test saved my son’s life.
He had tried several medications for depression without success, and had become hesitant to try new medications because of negative previous experience. The doctor had put him on a new drug, and he was having real problems with massive mood swings and aggression. I remembered reading that this particular medication could increase cortisol levels, which was causing the aggression.
When we got the test results they were very revealing, and my son recognized a bunch of things from his previous experience. He was taken off of the drug and almost instantly the aggression subsided. He is now on a different drug which he is tapering off on. It is like two different people. Without this test Lord knows what would have happened - assault or relapse.

After taking the test, my doctor and I are now able to avoid certain medications that we had been considering for me. Having the test results makes me feel so much more secure because I know now I won’t have to suffer through medications that I otherwise would have had to. I’m really glad you (Inagene) are doing this - I know it will help a lot of people. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is trying different medications that don’t seem to be working.

What I would say to people thinking of taking this test is “Do it - you will get a lot of great information and it can really help in you and your doctor in deciding which medication you should take. I am really happy with it and the information I was given – it was the right decision for me. It all went very smoothly and was easy to do.

If my doctor and I had this information 20 years ago many of the medications I have been prescribed would not have been, and that time wouldn’t have been wasted suffering on a medication that wasn’t compatible with my DNA when an alternative that was compatible could have been tried. The test helped us adjust the dosage of my antidepressant, and gave us new antidepressant treatment options to try that are compatible with my DNA. It has also already saved me money in experimenting with cannabis treatment because my doctor and I now know what cannabinoids to try. With so much trial and error in prescribing antidepressants, not only will chronic pain and mental health patients benefit with testing prior to being treated, but it will also benefit doctors, costs, and the environment. If this pandemic is teaching us anything it is that we must move forward using the technology we have now!
My daughter has struggled with depression and anxiety for the past 4 years. When first diagnosed we tried many medications with varied results, some worked but the side effects were too great to continue, and others didn't work at all. The effort and time to change medication is tremendous, and an added stress that someone going through anxiety and depression doesn’t need. When I learned about the Inagene test I was hopeful it could be the solution. I spoke to my daughter's doctor who also supported getting the test, as she believes this is the future of medicine. The test kit came quickly, and was extremely easy to use. The report was easy to understand and the results confirmed the category of drugs we were using were not compatible with my daughter’s DNA. The report helped us find a different drug, and her doctor switched her over, leading to a great result! Then my husband, who had side effects from his current anxiety medication, tried switching to her medication at the doctors recommendation (as they share the same DNA) and he had similar positive results. Overall we were extremely impressed with the ease of interpretation and depth of the results, provided in an easy format that you can share with your doctor. Updates are also sent to us when new medications are added. The Inagene test has had a positive impact on our family. We recommend it to anyone who requires medication for anxiety and depression as it will simplify their journey.

My 91-year-old dad has suffered from increased anxiety and depression recently and had asked his GP to increase his dose or to prescribe him another anti-depressant. He had also been taking clonazepam for years, but his GP recently decreased his dose due to risk of falls in elderly. My dad was unhappy and worried that the changes to his medication might make him feel worse instead of better. We ordered the Inagene test kit, and the report revealed that the antidepressant (SSRI) he was on was not ideal for him. His GP shared the report with the Pharmacist, who recommended switching my dad to another SSRI based on the Inagene test results. He said that without the report he would have suggested a different antidepressant, and he was very happy he didn’t do this as the report showed that drug had a ‘red’ warning for my dad so would probably have resulted in a negative experience. Both the GP and pharmacist were very impressed with the simplicity of the report and said they wished other patients had access to this type of information. My dad is now doing much better on his new medication. The test saved us so much stress of back-and-forth to the GP/pharmacist (during COVID and considering dad’s mobility issues) and allowed a medication change to be made that was most appropriate for my Dad. This test provides an amazing tool that will save money, time and reduce stress/anxiety for patients. Based on this experience I have now ordered the kit for my mother as well!
