The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Pharmacogenetics Platform Engineer to maintain, support, and evolve our software. This is a rare opportunity to join the small, elite team behind a production-ready genomics software platform used by thousands of clinicians and customers. The candidate will bring deep PHP/Laravel and MySQL experience alongside a working knowledge of pharmacogenetics, gene-drug interactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Own Tier 2 technical support and bug resolution for proprietary pharmacogenetics platform
• Monitor, maintain, and improve platform performance, stability, and data integrity
• Partner with internal stakeholders to triage, debug, and resolve complex issues reported by clinical users
• Collaborate with domain experts to ensure genetic variant and medication mapping remains accurate and up to date
• Provide technical guidance to team members and cross-functional collaborators
• Contribute to codebase modernization and incremental refactoring
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code
•  Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor and guide developers to foster continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
• Create and maintain internal documentation on pharmacogenetic data flows and system architecture

Required Experience & Skills

·         5+ years of experience in professional software development as a full-stack engineer

·         Experience working in product-focused startups or fast-paced teams

·         Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment

·         7+ years with production PHP and Laravel software development

·         7+ years with MySQL (query optimization, schema design) production development

·         3+ years in production pharmacogenetics platform development

·         Proven fundamental understanding of clinical-grade genetics

·         Proven experience in implementation of variant-to-medication logic

·         2+ years in proven experience in managing tier 2 support

·         A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science

·         2+ years experience successfully operating in a company regulated and certified with PIPEDA and ISO27001 compliance
