Healthcare Practitioner Insights - Inagene Diagnostics Inc.

Your patient’s DNA can help guide prescribing.

Inagene Personalized Insights™ pharmacogenetic tests reveal which medications have the highest likelihood of treatment success for your patients, based on their unique genetic profile.

Genetics can impact drug response in nearly everyone.1

Drugs and doses that work well for one patient often don’t work (or cause unexpected side effects) for others, and this can be significantly influenced by genetics. With only about one-third2 of those with depression responding well to the first drug prescribed, many spend weeks or months cycling through drugs and doses, enduring persistent symptoms and/or side effects. Chance of remission decreases while likelihood of experiencing side effects increases with each subsequent trial.2

Inagene Personalized Insights™ pharmacogenetic tests reveal which drugs and doses have the highest likelihood of treatment success for each of your patients, based on their DNA.

With Inagene Personalized Insights™ offering personalized medicine is as easy as red, yellow, green.

Recommendations on Inagene reports are based on peer-reviewed publications with high levels of evidence supporting gene-drug relationships. Each individualized recommendation is sourced from recognized consortia (CIPC, PharmGKB and DPWG) or authoritative bodies (e.g., FDA) who stratify available data into levels of evidence and/or actionability, and publish recommendations to guide individualized prescribing.

What do patients get when they order a Personalized Insights™ Test Kit?

What is Pharmacogenetics?

Pharmacogenetics is the combination of pharmacology and genetics, and is used to understand how an individual is likely to respond to medications based on their unique genetic profile.

For example, some people may be slow metabolizers of certain drugs, resulting in a standard dose remaining in their body for a longer time than it should, potentially leading to unexpected side effects. Other people may be rapid metabolizers, causing the drug to be processed and out of their system too quickly to have the desired effect.

Pharmacogenetics can help healthcare providers more accurately identify which drugs (and doses) are likely to work best for an individual BEFORE they are treated, to help them feel better as soon as possible, with minimal medication "trial and error".

What do healthcare providers offering the Inagene test have to say?

Hear from a pain specialist on his patient’s fibromyalgia.

“She was 'extremely happy' with the comprehensiveness and utility of her Personalized Insights™ test results, particularly as they have directly impacted her treatment plan going forward. Discontinuing amitriptyline (classified as Do Not Use) was seen by my patient as a real bonus, as she thought she would be paying out of pocket for it for another 10 years!”
